So, what is The Lazy Girl Job? Women on TikTok expressed that a lazy girl job is what's worth striving for. Basically, The Lazy Girl Job refers to a low-stress job that still pays well. The term started trending on TikTok when a 26-year-old TikToker Gabrielle Judge shared career-related tips and advice with her followers. On 22 May, Judge shared the video. In the video, she said, "I'm a big fan of 'lazy girl jobs." She also pointed out that the world has jobs that can get you an income of $60,000 to $80,000. They have pretty comfortable salaries and do not require to work much.

Lazy Girl Job Is Trending

After a couple of months, relating to Judge, several women shared on TikTok- how much they love their lazy girl jobs. The #lazygirljob hashtag received over 14 million views. In an interview with Business Insider, Judge expressed that women do not need to rely on 9-to-5 jobs for satisfaction and can use the extra time for side hustles for which they are passionate. This will also help women prioritise work-life balance.

Lazy girl jobs seem similar to the concept of bullshit jobs. Earlier, In 2013, the late American anthropologist David Graeber theorised bullshit jobs which means the existence of meaningless jobs. Graeber analysed the societal harm of such bullshit jobs, however, the women on TikTok are conceptualising meaningless jobs from a feminine view. Women expressed the opposite of what Graeber analysed, they are talking about work-life balance, no Monday blues, fun weekends, effortless work, good money, and spare time for side hustles.

Lazy girl jobs can also be considered as a safety net for people who are side-hustling but those hustles are not paying well. Many, out of passion are doing their side hustles but using Lazy girl jobs as stability. Although Lazy girl jobs have their own downside, one being job gets monotonous, dull, and boring sometimes. Such jobs can also probably reduce the creative side of a person or compromise their abilities. Gig jobs being the trend in the growing world, many find Lazy girl jobs cushy and comfortable.
