Who is Vinay Forrt: Hugely anticipated Fahadh Faasil and Nimisha Sajayan starrer latest Malayalam film Malik had a direct OTT release on July 15. Mahesh Narayanan's gangster drama was also backed by a powerful performance by Vinay Forrt who plays a character named David Christudas.
Faasil plays the titular role of Malik, and while the story is based on the Beemapally shooting of 2009 that left six people dead and a trail of distrust in its wake, Forrt’s David is the second-most important character. Who is Vinay Forrt?
Kochi-based Forrt won hearts after the career-defining portrayal of Vimal sir aka Java sir, who taught the “simple but powerful” Java script, in Premam in 2015. He then moved on to star in Thamaasha in 2019.
Before starting a career in the movie industry, Forrt worked in a range of jobs. He waited tables at cafes, worked as a medical store assistant and even door-to-door marketing during his stint in theatre.
He earned a postgraduate in acting from the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. These experiences, he said proudly, have given him a corpus of characters that he can draw inspiration from when he signs a new role. “I go back and search from these roles that I have lived,” he had told The Hindu.
His notable films are Shyamaprasad’s Ritu in the year 2009, The Blueberry Hunt (came out in 2016) with Naseeruddin Shah in the lead and Shutter in 2012, in which he played an auto driver. The actor received praise for his portrayal of Giri in Kadam Kadha and his one-liners from the movie soon became a hit.
A contemporary dancer, Forrt married his long-time girlfriend Soumya in 2014. The couple welcomed son Vihaan in 2016 and became a social media star for his adorable father-son videos. Forrt's upcoming films include Churuli, Kanakam Kamini Kalaham, Nna Thaan Case Kodu, and Vaathil.
