Senior Police Inspector Sudhir Kudalkar stands out as a shining example of compassion and care within law enforcement. Often seen as rigid, Kudalkar breaks stereotypes by displaying a deep love for animals in his role at the MHB Police Station in Borivali West.

When questioned about his dedication to caring for animals, he revealed, "It was in my DNA it seems; I have liked animals since childhood. Once, my wife and her group of animal lovers rescued a Persian cat from her abusive owner. The cat had endured assault and cried all night. We decided to take custody of her, and since then, our animal family has been expanding."

His routine involves feeding eight to nine stray dogs daily on the station premises. Beyond just dogs, he expanded his compassionate reach by welcoming a lost cat into his pet family, ensuring her safety with a QR code on her collar.

Kudalkar goes further, incorporating his love for animals into his daily patrol routine, carrying water, food, and bowls to provide for stray animals encountered during his rounds. His team actively supports and participates in his initiatives, emphasising his leadership and dedication.

During the challenging times of the COVID pandemic, Kudalkar's compassion extended to rescuing a 150-year-old turtle, earning recognition from esteemed organisations like PETA, AWB, the Police Department, and the Government of Maharashtra. His selfless acts for animal welfare have garnered him several prestigious awards and accolades.
