A LinkedIn user shared a heartwarming story of how a Swiggy delivery executive who was in a financial crisis sought the help of social media to get him a better job.
Priyanshi Chandel had ordered ice cream on Swiggy. In her post on LinkedIn, Priyanshi Chandel wrote that she had ordered ice cream on Swiggy. She said that the delivery person took forever to reach her location. When he finally reached her place, she found a young man panting for air sitting on the staircase outside her flat. Alarmed, she had asked him what happened, and his reply was heartbreaking.
Man Walks To Deliver Food
The delivery guy told her that he didn’t have a two-wheeler or any money to take any transport, so he had to walk 3 kilometres to deliver her order. He further explained that he was completely broke because his flatmate had taken the last of his money, which he had to charge his Yulu, and had put him in debt of -235. He said that he didn’t even have any money to pay his landlord.
He had further narrated that she might even think he was bluffing, but he was an engineering graduate who used to work at Ninjacart and Byju’s before he left home for Jammu and Kashmir during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also added that for this order he would get paid only Rs. 20–25, and he had another delivery to make before 12, otherwise, the company would send him somewhere far, which he would not be able to travel because he doesn’t have a bike. He also said that he had not eaten for a week and had been surviving on water and tea.
He had asked if it was possible for her to find him a job and claimed that he used to make Rs. 25,000 earlier and was 30 years old. He added that his parents were ageing, and he couldn’t keep asking them for money.
Priyanshi wrote that she had offered him a glass of water and Rs. 500. She then took to her LinkedIn account to help him find a better job. She requested that if anyone came across a job opening for an office boy, admin, customer support, etc., it would be great for them to help him out.
She also shared a photo of the delivery guy, his degree certificate, and official documents. Many netizens came forward to help him out. Someone recharged his Yulu account so that he doesn’t have to walk around to deliver food. Another netizen offered him a place to stay. A few others offered to help him with job applications, and some offered him jobs too.
In an update, Priyankshi wrote that the man had gotten a better job and thanked everyone who came forward to help him out.
