In a viral trend on Twitter, Instagram and TikTok this week, internet users are appropriating the book covers from the beloved children's series Little Miss and Mr Men from the late 20th century to attract attention to their distinctive (or not so distinctive) personality traits and fears.

Who is "Little Miss"?

"Mr Men" and "Little Miss" are iconic characters from a children's book series that was first created by the British author Roger Hargreaves in 1971 and 1981 respectively. After he died in 1988, the series was later continued by his son, Adam Hargreaves. He also started illustrating new Mr Men and Little Miss stories such as Mr CoolMr RudeMr GoodLittle Miss ScaryLittle Miss BadLittle Miss WhoopsLittle Miss PrincessLittle Miss Hug, and Little Miss Inventor.

In the original Mr Men and Little Miss series, each book introduced a new title character and his or her single dominant personality trait to impart a concise moral lesson. As of 2022, there are a total of 92 Mr Men and Little Miss characters, each having their book, according to reports.

Who started the first "Little Miss" meme?

Memes featuring Little Miss and Mr Men first appeared on Tumblr in 2021 before making their way to Instagram in the early months of 2022.

The initial Little Miss meme, according to the Know Your Meme blog, was created by Tumblr user notyourgaybestie, who shared "Little Miss Smokes Too Much Weed" in June 2021.

After that, on April 19 2022, it was the Instagram user @juulpuppy who started the current trend with "Miss Borderline Personality Disorder" and from then on TikTok and Instagram user @starbucksslayqueen also started posting the memes on her social media accounts.

TikTok and Twitter have also caught the trend, causing it to become incredibly popular. The #LittleMissMemes is currently globally trending on Twitter.

In addition, the @littlemissnotesapp user created many memes based on the Little Miss Memes trend, which helped the trend become immensely popular on Instagram.

As part of a recent trend, book covers for Mr Men and Little Miss series, which feature popular characters like Mr Happy and Little Miss Naughty, have been edited and recaptioned to present the renowned characters with more nuanced, hyper-personalised depictions.

According to reports, people use them to draw attention to things like their favourite TV shows, celebrities (Mr Worldwide), prescription medications (Little Miss Lexapro), their drink orders (Little Miss Brown Sugar Milk Tea With Boba), their most egregious ADHD symptoms (Little Miss Forgets To Eat), and more.
