Anju Narain was married at 18. When you converse with her, it's very hard to believe she has two children 25 and 22. She grew up in Mysore but married a Lucknow boy and as a result moved to the UP capital. "It was pretty hard to adjust to begin with," but her husband supported. "I used to think that since I had had no formal training, I couldn't really start off something," she recalls. "But I was to be soon realise that success and education were not necessarily connected."
Narain set up a specialised business for chikankari, the embroidery art from the Lucknow region. "I work with 200 women and it's truly gratifying to have built this business."
