It was another battle for PV Sindhu. She came, she fought, she conquered. Now she is eyeing the gold medal missing from her large medal haul. India’s top shuttler finished it off in style at the World Badminton Championships 2018 in Nanjing where she was sole Indian survivor. She took on Japanese second seeded Akane Yamaguchi in the semifinal on Saturday and beat her in a brilliant straight 21-16, 24-22 games. She is in the final, prepping to face off Olympic Champion Carolina Marin. Sindhu had won the silver medal in last World Championships.

With this win, she has already assured of a World Championship medal -- a silver – adding to the collection in 2013 and 2014 bronzes, and the silver she won last year. A total of four World Championship medal haul. Sindhu was in a fight with Yamaguchi, a first-time World Championship semi-finalist.
The World No. 3 Indian stood firm and defensive to knock down She produced a dominant display against her rival as she achieved the top honour.
Earlier this year, World No. 2 Yamaguchi had beaten World No.3 Sindhu 19-21, 21-19, 21-18 in the All England Open. Seems the Indian has avenged the loss this time, defeating an old nemesis.

Sindhu’s powerful shots beating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in straight games led her into the semifinals and assure herself of a medal in the World Championships on Friday. Sindhu defeated Okuhara 21-17 21-19 in a match that lasted for 58-minute.
Earlier this year, she also won silvers at the India Open and Commonwealth Games
The Olympic silver medallist, this year, has successfully made it to Forbes List Of 30 Under 30 Asia 2018. She is enlisted among a total of four Indians included in the list’s ‘Entertainment & Sports’ category.

Sindhu, 22, was chosen by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to be the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent for the opening ceremony of the the Commonwealth Games tournament. The 2016 Olympic silver medallist has steadily earned this feat and is considered as the favourite in women’s singles.
With Asian Games round the corner, Sindhu carries a big responsibility on her shoulders, remaining to be India’s biggest hope to win major title.
