The debut of women in the Kabaddi league has been a great success, if the viewership is anything to go by. And they have ended the season on a high note as well, wit the Storm Queens defeating the Fire Birds 24 – 23 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. Storm Queens with 13 points from 4 matches were on top of the points table, while the Fire Birds took the third place with 8 points winning just one match.

The game began with a super raid by Sakshi Kumari in the fourth minute to give Storm Queens a 4-1 lead. Then with Tejeaswani, Sakshi Kumari and Jyoti’s powerful and intelligent covers, Storm Queens lead with 7 points even as the clock was ticking. With first all out, the Storm Queens had a six point lead.
However, soon, it was 10-8 to Fire Birds at half-time. But in the second half Storms Queens with their super tackle skills took the match into their hands. Tejaswin led Storm Queens to a last-minute victory to beat Fire Birds by 24- 23 and become the first champions of Women's Kabaddi Challenge in the final round.
