Pani Puri Seller Treats: In a country obsessed with sons, fathers celebrating the birth of their girl child highlights that the society is gradually becoming more accepting towards the girl child. One such father who is trying his best to break the taboo surrounding the birth of daughter is 28-year-old Anchal Gupta. This pani puri seller celebrated the birth of his daughter by distributing Rs.50,000 worth of the spicy snacks among people living there.
Anchal put up three stalls in Bima Kunj Road in Kolar locality and announced that free pani puri would be available from 1 pm to 6 pm. The message soon went viral. In a short span of time, a lot of people started coming to his stall. In fact, many were stunned when they came to know the reason that promoted him to make such an announcement.
Post this, many people congratulated him for the birth of his daughter and his initiative to spread an important message in the society.
In an interview with TOI, he said that he wanted to prove that there shouldn't be any discrimination between boys and girls. He became the father of a daughter on 17 August but he was upset due to people's reaction to the news. They told him that she will prove to be a financial burden to the family. He didn't like how people perceived the entire thing and wanted to send across a message to them. That's when he decided to celebrate it in a big way and prove that every parent should feel proud to have a girl child.
The only thing that he didn't like was the fact that people weren't following COVID-19 norms despite giving repeated reminders.
