The business landscape is changing and so does the attitudes of entrepreneurs toward ‘traditional’ ways of doing business. What’s more, there’s evidence to suggest that women are playing a large role in shaping the future of business.

They emerged as leaders, rulers, and decision-makers by overcoming everything that was made to destroy women. And it won’t be wrong to say that women entrepreneurs are driving the change in the current scenario owing to their talent, intelligence, perseverance, dedication, and creativity.

Women Techpreneurs

Women proved their worth and forced people to take them seriously and let them take charge. They evinced themselves at every spot and broke the ego of those who never felt that they were worthy. They remind us that, “The hands that rock the cradle can rule the world.”

However, when it comes to the tech industry, it has mostly been dominated by men. Especially in earlier times, women have been highly under-represented in the tech domain. However, with changing times the way women work and run businesses has also undergone a substantial change. Women have started taking charge of their lives and careers and have begun reshaping the entrepreneurial space to a great extent. Even the domain of tech is not far from them. Women are not only successfully running such companies, but are also breaking the invisible glass ceiling – that too with much success.

Experts opine that gender diversity in workplaces leads to a thriving economy. It also makes good business sense since the variety of perspectives allows better decision-making. Yet, gender equality in workplaces has always been featured as a part of a larger conversation for just a few years now. Nevertheless, business organisations, especially in the technology domain, have been making more conscious efforts to achieve gender diversity.

Business teams consisting of both men and women are the most efficient and harmonious, and the IT industry benefits when women have equal representation within staff structures: women are attentive, supporting, patient, nurturing, empathetic, and passionate about everything that they do – all qualities that are very important for leadership, management and service.

When it comes to India’s technology sector, it can be said that the number of women participating within the domain has increased substantially with time.

The Indian technology landscape underwent a huge boom over the past decades. In terms of employment, while it has been mostly male-dominated, women’s participation has increased to a great extent over time. With STEM courses admitting more women and tech companies hiring more female employees, their representation has not only increased within the tech landscape but it can be said that they are set to change the tech landscape in India considerably.

In many tech companies women techpreneurs are employing only women in their organisations and some are hosting sessions on leadership and ">entrepreneurship in order to encourage and influence more women to follow in their footsteps. In other cases, it is through their story of the journey as techpreneurs or entrepreneurs that they are constantly inspiring new talent and aspiring entrepreneurs to walk the less-trodden path of launching their own ventures. Successful women entrepreneurs or techpreneurs are opening the doors for newbies – they are motivating others to believe in themselves; working together to support each other; women leaders are looking towards fostering new leaders and helping them learn how to be a leader and also how to foster new leaders.

"It can be said that women entrepreneurs whether in the tech space or otherwise have realised the importance of fostering their gender so as to the ability to redefine gender narratives within the workspace and promote more women entrepreneurs."
