Why are Katrina Kaif wedding memes mostly about her exes? If reports are to be believed Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal are getting married at Six Senses Fort Barwara today. Much has been written about the tight security and secrecy around this high-profile wedding. The two stars are making sure that the world gets a peek into their wedding on their terms and not those laid forward by the paparazzi. But in a parallel world, or rather the digital world, memes are being churned out to ensure that Kaif's past is not laid to rest even when she walks towards a new beginning.

As soon as rumours around the "Victrina" wedding began doing rounds (believe me, that's not the worst hashtag doing rounds out there) began surfacing on news platforms, the meme brigade rolled up its sleeves and got down to work. There were slightly problematic memes that shared a childhood photograph of Kaushal saying who thought this kid would get to marry Katrina Kaif one day. What Vicky Kaushal looked like when he was a child, how does it even matter?

Even the wedding of one of Bollywood's biggest female stars today has been made all about the men in her life by memers.

There were also hilarious memes on tight security arrangements that the couple has managed to pull off for their wedding, with news pieces claiming that any drones flying past might be shot down and how guests had been made to sign a non-disclosure agreement. However, the meme-verse of "VicKat" wedding is largely dominated by takes on how Kaif's alleged exes will handle this news. There are memes of Salman Khan guarding the wedding venue - perhaps a reference to his film Bodyguard, of Ranbir Kapoor and Khan sneaking into the wedding. It was also pointed out how one of Kaif's exes was being talked about more than the other one.

These memes prove how difficult it is for women to move away from their past, especially if you lead a big chunk of your life under the spotlight. Her alleged exes might be the last thing on Kaif's mind today, but does social media care much? Besides, has no one heard of a thing called moving on in life? Kapoor is dating Alia Bhatt, while Khan is said to be in a relationship with singer Lulia Vantur. From where we stand that all parties being quoted in these memes are doing okay in their respective lives. So why must Kaif's exes be shown as bawling on hearing the news about her wedding? Or trying to gatecrash it?

The thing is, we love to stereotype love as an undying and a "forever" experience. But in reality, it is not uncommon to fall out of love and call a relationship off. You go your separate ways, find someone else and if things work out, you make a commitment to be by each other's side for a lifetime.

We need to celebrate moving on, and not glamourise being stuck in a dead relationship long after the other person has moved on.
