Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have always been clear about not revealing the face of their baby girl Vamika. As a result of this, on many public appearances with the family, we have seen the former Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli requesting the media members and photographers to not click the picture of the kid.
During a recent match between India and South Africa, the broadcasters showed the face of Vamika while Sharma held her in the arms. The media frenzy is not over even after the continuous request that the parents have made since the birth of the little one.
Vamika Photo Revealed: Media Obsession With Star Kids
The duo through a statement in 2020 requested the privacy of their kid when the section of media shared her pictures on the social media platform. They wrote an open letter to keep in mind their request. She added-"We seek privacy for our child and would like to do our best to give her a chance to live her life freely away from media and social media. As she is getting older, we cannot restrict her movement, and hence your support is needed."
They also thanked the fan club and followers for the kind and mature gesture of not posting the image of Vamika.
Even on the media appearance of Sharma after the delivery of the baby, she requested them personally on camera to not click the image of her daughter, and Kohli was seen doing so while he got off the Team bus with Vamika and Anushka Sharma.
The advent of social media and the inevitable race on "who is going to be first" in posting a star's picture has made the media go crazy.
The hunt for images and videos is not just limited to the star. Rather it extends to their family members too. Many people also argue that the star's life cannot be private, as they choose the media glare. This is a notion that needs to be dejected in the cases where the stars are begging for privacy- be it for their kids, parents, or any personal matter that has caught media attention.

On similar lines, the extensive coverage of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan's first son Taimur just after the birth got irritating after some time. While the parents in the particular case made no such demand of privacy, the netizens could not believe the stooping of Indian media. As the kid used to attend play sessions or school, the continuous shouting "Taimur baba idhar dekho" could be scary for any kid.
The star kids are often dragged in the same scenario as their parents and everything including their dressing sense, media appearance and their career choice are made headlines. Apart from Vamika and Taimur instances, there have been many other scenarios as well where it appears as if the star kids are ready to face the media for intense scrutiny. Be it Suhana Khan's reply on being dark-skinned, Alaya F's reply on being slut shamed, the girls have proved that they too have their freedom of choice and right to speech and expression.
It's high time that media considers the work ethics that they are expected to. There is a constant need of being within self-checks so that the star kids don't have to face the brunt of their parent's profession in their personal and professional life.
