Sunita Ahuja and Kashmera Shah fight: Blaming daughters-in-law for creating family feuds is not a new thing in our country. The bahus of the house are the first to be called the 'troublemakers'. They are assumed to be the root cause of all problems, always trying to create rifts in their marital home. Sunita Ahuja, the wife of veteran actor Govinda recently expressed her disappointment towards Kashmera Shah, wife of their nephew Krushna Abhishek.
Sunita Ahuja and Kashmera Shah fight
Apparently, Sunita Ahuja called Kashmera Shah a "bad daughter-in-law". She also said that issues in the public domain are always created from "Krushna's side". Krushna Abhishek recently opted out of The Kapil Sharma Show that featured Ahuja and Govinda as guests. This rekindled the already existing disturbance in their family. In an interview, Ahuja reacted to Shah's comment where she asked, "Who is Sunita?"
Ahuja said that she did not reply to "bad things". The star wife then went on to say that she took care of her nephew and his wife "like a mother". Yet, they behave inappropriately with her. She further added that problems in the house start when one brings home a "bad daughter in law".
What did Kashmera Shah say?
As per Shah's statement, Ahuja and Govinda speak "nonsense" about her husband. Perhaps Krushna was not needed in that episode of the reality show. She refused to answer any question about her in-laws saying that she has created her own identity. Nobody recognises her as "someone's wife".
In 2018, she had revealed that the feud between the families began when Govinda and his wife did not come to see their newborn children. Even though one of them was fighting for his life, the celebrity couple reportedly did not pay them a visit at the hospital.
Why blame the Bahu?
As a society, we find it easiest to blame the daughters in law. It is shocking how people still believe that wives "control" the lives of their partners. Aren't men themselves mature enough to distinguish between distinguish between right and wrong? Should they follow their wife's commands blindly without even thinking of the consequences?
Neither Govinda nor Ahuja talk openly about their family feuds which is completely acceptable. But is it correct to put blame on Shah's shoulders? We do not know who the real culprit is. Nor do we have any say in the internal matters of celebrities. However, pointing a finger at daughters in law for instigating discords in families is nothing but a patriarchal troupe.
Such an attitude simply brings out the internalised misogyny women harbour within themselves. Instead of pulling down other women, we must try to lift each other and resolve differences. Personal enmity can do more harm than good.
