It seems very refreshing when two people who used to date each or were once married remain good friends even after separation. They can do that because of what they had with each other. The love they had for each other stopped being romantic but it still retained its tenderness. They don't have to force the bond and they transition with ease from lovers to acquaintances, work colleagues, best friends, close friends and different other things.

Keeping aside the tumultuous ones, most romantic relationships die because the two people involved fall out of love. When there are no feelings of affection and care towards each other, there is no point in staying together. Even when the breakup is mutual and not messy in its process, many individuals have made the choice of never talking to their ex-partners.

Staying in Touch With Exes:

It is only natural to throw a broken vase in the trash rather than stare at its pieces lying on the floor. What if someone steps on it and gets hurt? That can feel much worse. What if the new forced "friendship" with your ex-partner adds no good value to your life and only reminds you of the past? The unhappy past, the things you tolerated even when you should not have and everything else you don't want to remember. Yes, staying in touch with ex-partners has worked out for some people but it an individual choice.

As per a study published in 2000, friendships between exes can have more negative qualities than positive ones. It is also backed by another research study that staying friends with ex partners can stop people from getting into new romantic relationships with other people.

Samantha Unfollows Naga Chaitanya

The judgement from people, mutual friends mostly and relatives in case of broken marriages, over severing ties is unfair. Should it be up to the two people involved in the now broken relationship on how and if they want to stay in touch? Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu had a big section of social media after her after she unfollowed her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya. She even made it to headlines for the same reason.

What is so shocking about unfollowing your ex on social media? The actor also shared a post on her story which was termed "cryptic" by the news media. It was a quote that said, " Sometimes the strength within isn't a big fiery flame for all to see. Sometimes it is just a tiny spark that whispers ever so softly, "keep going, you got this."

Like Samantha, many have found themselves on shaky grounds after separating from their partners. It can seem like an impossible path to some and equally seamless one to others. If one individual thinks it right to stay in touch with their ex-partner to feel better and gradually get over the old feeling, that doesn't mean it would work for everyone else. Some of us need that distance to heal, forget and feel new things. We need to throw that vase in the trash and look for a better one to replace it or just let that tabletop empty if that pleases us.
