The bar apparently offered one free beverage to women who wore A-cup bras, two free beverages to those who wore B-cup bras, and four free beverages for women who wore C-cup bras.

A now-deleted post on the bar’s Facebook page advertised the concept and encouraged women to remove their bras and let them hang on the bar's shed. As part of promotions, the bras were hung on the walls inside the bar.

This, however, didn’t go well with many customers and triggered controversy online. The bar began receiving severe backlash from netizens, following which they issued a so-called apology. They claimed that they offered their sincere apology as the post "made some of the patrons feel uncomfortable and body shamed." They stated that wasn’t their intention, and based on the feedback from the community, they are coming up with "ideas for different promotions that promote a fun, safe, and inclusive environment for all."

Society across the globe has had an unhealthy obsession with breasts. While it’s about attractiveness for men, women are often insecure or forced to feel insecure about their breasts. Women with small breasts wish they had bigger ones, while women with larger breasts wish they had smaller ones. Women with bigger breasts worry about not being able to find a variety of lingerie for their size, being uncomfortable while doing physical activities or playing sports, or wearing certain outfits. Women with smaller breasts are concerned about not fitting in, not looking attractive enough, and having to wear push-ups or padded brassieres all the time.

Given the existing social pressure, this "promotional event" by the bar could potentially make women feel inferior about their appearance. Moreover, the whole concept of segregating women based on the bra size they wear is more than just body shaming. This is clearly an objectification of women by reducing their worth to their breast size.

"The bigger the better" distinctly indicates that the bar was determining the attractiveness of women based on their bra size. When is society’s crazy obsession with women and their breasts going to stop?

It's dehumanising that women were asked to take off their bras under the guise of "wearing bras being uncomfortable." Undoubtedly, the bar wanted to be sure of the women’s real breast size, which wouldn’t be possible if they had their bras on. And hence they devised a "humorous" and "harmless" concept to ask women to shed their bras.

Yes, it can be liberating to snap off the hooks of the bra, but it’s completely a woman’s choice to do that. She shouldn’t have to take it off in order to avail herself of offers at a bar. That’s problematic and sickening! Doesn’t this come across as a pervy act disguised in a very subtle manner? Wearing a bra or taking it off is a woman’s choice, and it is not for anyone to decide to appease their perversions.

The whole concept is highly problematic, and the half-hearted apology seems to indicate that the bar doesn't truly regret what it did. They probably issued a statement to get the scrutiny off their backs. It’s inhumane and perverse to even come up with an idea like this. Breasts are just yet another part of a woman’s body. It’s high time society got over its twisted mindset of sexualizing or objectifying women's breasts, not just with name-sake words but in action. Is it too much for women to expect basic dignity?
