19-year-old Maitri Patel has scripted history by becoming India’s youngest commercial pilot. The Surat based girl has been lauded by the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani also. He congratulated Pilot Maitri Patel for receiving the vocational training and wished her a sky-touching career.
Here's why she is an inspiration to young girls across the country
She comes from a humble background
Maitri wasn't born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her father is a farmer while her mother works at the health department of Surat Municipal Corporation. Her father had to sell off a piece of his land to fund her training in the United States of America. Despite financial constraints, she materialised her dream and made her parents proud.
She is a grounded person.
After finishing her training, she invited her father to America for a plane ride where she acquainted him with the technicalities of riding a plane. Before anyone else, she wanted her father to sit on the plane that she flies. Her heart-warming gesture gives an insight into the kind of person she is. She didn't let success go to her head. She is grounded and acknowledges the pains her parents have taken to give her the life she aspired for.
Hard work bears fruit
In an interview with India Today, her father said that she used to work very hard to realise her dream. She was only 8-years-old when she resolved to become a pilot on growing up. Besides being India’s youngest commercial pilot, she also gave an example of her smartness and sharpness by completing the 18 months course in just 11 months.
Maitri Patel doesn't believe in complacency
A lot of young people, on achieving success early in life, become complacent with it. As a result, they start living in comfort zone and this kills their ambition. Maitri Patel, however, has eyes set on her next goal. She wants to fly Boeing Aircraft for which she will soon start training. She is unstoppable and believes in achieving more. This quality of hers can definitely be imbibed by young girls looking forward to fulfill their dreams.
Her success can be credited to the years of hard work she has put to achieve her dream. Your thoughts?
