Actor Samantha Prabhu's father shared a memory post on Facebook recently with the photos of the actor's wedding and captioned it saying "LET'S START A NEW STORY AND A NEW CHAPTER !!!" It shows how the older generation takes time to get over relationships compared to us and a little help from parents can make these times of crisis easier to get through. Divorce is still an uncomfortable topic for many in India. Therefore it is heartwarming to see a father support a daughter in her decision to move on.
Most people think divorce brings shame to the family whereas struggling in an unhappy marriage is considered normal. There are even harder conversations sometimes when abuse becomes a part of the marriage and divorce turns into an absolute necessity. In marriages where there is no abuse or dishonesty, two people can still not be happy in it. Everyone deserves to lead a happy life and if the marriage is restricting that, there's no point in adjusting to please people who aren't even a part of it.
In India marriage is not just the two people, the families get involved and make it personal which has both pros and cons. Sometimes it could be annoying to tolerate interference but again in times of crisis, they stand by you. Similarly, when Samantha Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya announced their divorce, social media saw an upheaval and a lot of people had hard feelings toward Prabhu.
Parents Help Children After Divorce: Samantha Prabhu's father's post
Prabhu had spoken about being hurt by the rumours spread against her after the divorce announcement. In such moments of crisis, one needs their loved ones to be there with them without any judgement. As we know an Indian marriage involves the parents, similarly divorce too affects them. Many couples delay their decision to walk out of an unhappy marriage in fear of the reactions from their parents because they expect parents to not understand and care more about what society will say. Many couples hide their separation from their parents for years for the same reason.
Coping from a divorce can be hard and in such a crisis, one needs their loved ones, especially their parents to be with them for the extra love and care. Parents are mostly an individual's primary support system and they could play a big role in bringing them back to a stronger state. Prabhu's father, Joseph Prabu wrote on his Facebook post, "LONG LONG AGO; THERE WAS A STORY; AND IT DOESN'T EXIST ANYMORE !!! SO, LET'S START A NEW STORY; AND A NEW CHAPTER !!!" along with pictures from Prabhu and Chaitanya's wedding.
Joseph Prabhu's lines show hope about his daughter and her future and reveal how he thinks that Prabhu should be looking forward in life for a new chapter. Every person going through a divorce deserves a parent like this who will encourage them to move on and look ahead in life instead of thinking about how to change the past. Sharing photos of the special day also means that one doesn't need to shun their past completely either, it is okay to not feel ashamed about a marriage that didn't work. Remembering a good happy day brings no harm.
