A woman from Madhya Pradesh approached the Madras High Court requesting protection from the state authorities as she claimed her parents wanted to sacrifice her. She had escaped to Tamil Nadu, calling it the safest place for women, and her parents were looking for her to kill her.
The 23-year-old woman claimed that her father and stepmother believed in black magic and were thinking of offering her as a 'human sacrifice'. She also reportedly said that her parents were involved with a few Hindu outfits who along with some officials of Madhya Pradesh police were helping her parents and were looking for her. She filed a petition on February 22 in Madras High Court and the court and the state had ensured that the girl will be provided with adequate protection by Tamil Nadu police and action will be taken against her parents as well.

MP Woman Human Sacrifice Case
The case highlights the grave issue of superstition and black magic in society. People are so easily influenced by such dangerous rituals that they completely lose a sense of their life and family. Women are often seen being subjects of the torture of such problematic rituals. Sometimes they are told to dive into cold water to have a son and other times they are sexually and mentally abused by the hands of some corrupt occultist. Women are told to do anything and everything in the name of rituals.
It is sad how the parents of this 23-year-old girl completely disregarded her life and her right to decide what she wants from life and all they thought of was using her as a medium to fulfil their wishes through black magic. But what would have happened if they had a son and not a daughter? They might have thought twice before offering him as a human sacrifice but then again, we should not forget that brainwashed people hardly discriminate.
Such black magic, sacrifices and rituals have long been imposed on women, considering the times when women were burnt alive if someone vaguely called them a witch without context or were beaten and hanged in the name of rituals. For centuries we thought that it was because of illiteracy and lack of awareness and knowledge. However, considering such cases happening in the 21st century, education and knowledge seem to be unrelated to being superstitious.
