We call ourselves a developed society but still don't shy away from the objectification of women in many cases, especially in songs. Celebrities that influence thousands of people set wrong examples without thinking twice. Recently, Kanye West celebrated his birthday by organising Nyotaimori.
Nyotaimori is a Japanese practice that involves naked women serving food off their bodies. The ritual was popular during the 17th to 19th centuries. Traditionally, the women are not allowed to interact with any guests unless the party is over. The practice was banned in many countries for being sexist and for objectifying women. Yet here we are witnessing Kanye West practicing Nyotaimori. The alleged pictures from Kanye West's birthday party showed a woman lying naked on a table with sushi laid on her body.
On his 46th birthday on June 8, the rapper hosted a party that was attended by his alleged wife Bianca Censori, and his 10-year-old daughter North West. The issue is even more concerning that if the pictures on the internet are actually from West's birthday party, then that means his minor daughter North West was present there. What example are you setting for your young daughter? You are normalising objectification of women for a 10-year-old which means you are asserting it is fine to be ogled at by passing drunk men or being groped by guys in a crowded place just because she looks beautiful or is wearing a tight skirt or is curvy.
It is scary how the people who are in the limelight would do anything to remain in it, even if that means letting their intrusive thoughts win. Objectifying women is considered fun, and putting their beauty to 'good use' is considered noble, that is the reality of the world we live in. No matter what we do, there will always be people like Kanye West who believe women are meant just for pleasure and have no other better purpose on this earth. One needs to ask West what goes behind such stunts, does he think of impacts on his fans?
This is not the first time, American rapper Kanye West doing something sexist, he has been accused of abusive behaviour towards his staff as well as sexual harassment. Even his songs are clearly based on toxic masculinity and misogyny, a trait often found in many songs worldwide.

West has always been accused of being a sexist, whether when he wrote a so-called 'revenge porn' song for Taylor Swift back in 2015 or when he called comedian Bill Cosby innocent when he was accused of sexual harassment by over 60 women. There are many men who still find objectifying women amusing and if they had enough power and money, they would not shy away from having a West-style birthday as well. As they say, not all men but somehow always men. West is just an example of it!
