10-Year-Old Boy Rapes 3-Year-Old Girl: Where Are We Going Wrong?

Crime against women is at its peak right now and everyone is looking for someone to blame instead of introspecting on their own doings. At a time when it is hard for women to trust anyone, whether a relative, a friend, or a stranger, there have been rape cases reported in which both the survivor and accused were minors.

The young generation of today's world is way ahead of us. They are born with the latest technology in their hands, the best of facilities, and perks that we did not enjoy as kids. They are smarter and learn things quickly, whether good or bad. However, despite recent advancements, the safety of children remains a prime concern, not just from others but for themselves as well.

There is a fair group of children getting badly influenced by troubling elements around them and an example of this is recent cases of rape where both the accused and the survivor were minors.

Increase In Minor Rape Cases

Recently, a rape case from Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar was reported where a 10-year-old boy raped a 3-year-old girl on the terrace of the school that they both studied in. This case is a concerning incident as not only the girl was harmed, the boy too seems to be living in very bad influence. The incident ruined the life of both children and will be etched in their memory forever.

A similar case was reported from Surat's Bardoli region where a 12-year-old boy raped a 5-year-old girl and on being asked why he did that, he simply said that he did not know what he was doing and was only recreating what he saw somewhere. These kids don't even know what they are doing with their life as well as the life of the girl.

The world talks about women's safety, some blame women for wearing revealing clothes, and some blame men for having wrong intentions. The people talk more and do less when it comes to reforms. We have not yet found a solution to minors being mishandled or sexually abused by adults and somehow, we now have to keep minors safe from fellow minors. It is obvious that these kids don't know what they are doing. They are doing what the adults around them do. They are learning from the world around them which is supposed to be natural. However, the world is filled with such problematic people that all they can learn from them are criminal ideas.

These cases are a wake-up call for us to check where we are going wrong. Where are these children learning such vile ideas from? And most importantly, is that what we want our future to look like? A future where women are sexual objects from a very young age. A future where a child might not have access to education but knows how to have sex. A future where women are not safe from the moment they are born, not just from grown-ups but also from little kids their age.

We need to think again about the influence we have on our children and how their actions are impacting society. They are young and will do what you teach them. We have to improve as a society so that our future generations don't go through what we witness. We should promote education and awareness among children and need to stop sexualising them at a young age. Let them treat each other as humans and not sex objects. We also need to make sure that sexual offenders are punished severely so that society gets an example of what happens when you attack another person's dignity.
