Work is often prioritised over everything else, as our desire to succeed and earn a name for ourselves has made us set aside our own personal life, with the concept of work-life balance being crucified to the best employee of the month display board. Although it is really essential to live a life of prosperity both in terms of professional and personal aspects.
Work-life management which is the state of equilibrium between the needs and demands of one's personal and professional life is being majorly exploited in the current scenario. This is being done in such a way that it has rendered us into a toxic work culture, where one needs to keep working just really hard while completely neglecting their personal life due to the fear of missing out professionally. But do we really need to work this hard just in order to be successful or is it just a condition created because of the toxic work culture?
Work-Life Management
If we look at ourselves and think if we are in a toxic work culture, which is making us neglect our personal life because of the fear of missing out on a career, the answer to it might be no! But let me simplify it for you, have you ever left a family function or skipped your holiday plans because taking a leave might make not be accessible or because your workplace rival might utilise this time to do better than you, Sounds familiar right? If your answer is changed to a yes then you might probably have to rethink your work-life balance.
Today's generation is running so blindly towards making a prosperous career for themselves that they completely neglect their personal life, they wake up every morning and run towards their office like it's a marathon they need to win, and come back home every day exhausted to the core and this keeps happening on a loop. This not only destroys our personal life but also adversely affects our careers by stripping us of every shred of productivity bit by bit.

Not only do we push ourselves to this because of the fear of missing out but the organisations we work for over-exploit our capabilities just for the sake of their growth and profit. It's because the work environment has turned so toxic with the time that it only focuses on gaining profit by making its employees work like robots. This can be confirmed by the cases like the one where a Twitter employee posted a picture of herself sleeping in the office to keep a check on her strict deadlines.
This kind of toxic and hectic work culture causes employee burnout, illness due to increased levels of work-related stress and an unhealthy lifestyle associated with it, strips us of productivity and enthusiasm to work, etc. Therefore it's really important for us to ask ourselves if our work is making our life harder. Is it causes trouble in our personal relationship? Or Is it having any bad impact on our mental and physical health? If the answer to any of the above is yes for you then you might need to change your work settings.
Jobs are supposed to fill our pockets and not strip us of our happiness and personal life and that's something we should never forget. Working in a positive environment is the only right way to work and focusing on work-life management is something non-negotiable. Taking care of our physical and mental health and growing our careers should be done simultaneously without any of it being slaughtered for a truly prosperous life.
