Hasin Jahan, the estranged wife of fast bowler Mohammed Shami, has shared her discontent about the lack of action regarding her case of domestic abuse, as well as accusing him of continuing with extra-marital affairs. This information was brought to light when Jahan submitted her case to the Supreme Court.
Hasin Jahan's Allegation Against Md Shami
The spouse of Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami, who has filed a Special Leave Petition with the Supreme Court. She claims that a criminal case against her ex-husband has been wrongly postponed for the past 4 years and that there was no valid reason for doing so. Additionally, the petitioner alleges that Shami had extramarital affairs with prostitutes while on tours with the senior national cricket team, and used to demand dowry. According to her, the cricketer used to maintain 2 mobile phones. The secondary one was used for contacting prostitutes, which was detained by the Lal Bazaar Police, Kolkata.
In 2018, Jahan, also the model and ex-IPL cheerleader took legal action against Mohammed Shami for domestic abuse and adultery. She filed a complaint with the police in Jadavpur and has been battling in court against him ever since. Despite the legal dispute, Shami has succeeded with the Indian cricket team and has won the 2022 season of the Indian Premier League with Gujarat Titans (GT).
In 2018, the women's grievance cell of Kolkata Police interrogated Shami, an Indian cricket player, and his elder brother Hasib Ahmed. Furthermore, the Alipore Court issued an arrest warrant against Shami. The warrant for arrest remained in place, despite the Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) clearing Shami of any wrongdoing in the face of allegations by Hasin Jahan that he participated in match-fixing.
In January 2023, a Kolkata court instructed Shami to provide a monthly amount of Rs 50,000 as alimony to his separated wife, Hasin Jahan.
Following the court's decision, Jahan expressed her discontentment regarding the amount of alimony that Shami is required to pay. At the beginning of the proceedings, Jahan had asked for a total monthly support of Rs 10 lakhs, out of which Rs 7 lakhs were for personal expenses and the remaining Rs 3 lakhs were designated for their daughter's upkeep. This request was made via a legal case in 2018.
