Anushka Sharma has taken it to Instagram stories to slam an international sportswear brand as they posted photos of her on their social media without the actor-producer's consent. Sharma's husband and cricketer Virat Kohli is one of the brand ambassadors for the brand as well.
Anushka Sharma has put herself in a minor controversy with the famous sportswear brand Puma who has used her photos without her consent. Sharma has faced a lot of criticism and trolling from the fans of the cricket community since her connection with her husband Virat Kohli became public. Kohli has stood up for his wife several times and asked people to not blame his wife for his performance on the field. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are a couple who keep raising their voice whenever they find things are unfair. Earlier, Kohli shared a video of a hotel staff going through his room and belongings and posting the captured video on a social media platform. Photos and videos of celebrities are easily found on the internet but it is important to respect their privacy as they have the right to exercise it.
Anushka Sharma Puma Controversy
Anushka Sharma posted on her Instagram stories, a post from Puma's social media page that contains three photos of Sharma all wearing attires from the brand. Sharma wrote in the story, "Hey, @pumaindia? I'm sure you know that you have to take permission before you can use my imagery for publicity since I'm not your ambassador. Please take it down!"
The actor seemed to be quite displeased by the actions of the brand using her photos without her knowledge pointing to the fact that the post might look like she is endorsing their products for the users following Puma's page on the social media platform. Sharma doesn't want to support the idea of misleading the people as on their social media the brand puts up photos of their own advertisements that feature their brand ambassadors.
According to reports, Puma India currently has several Indian celebrities as their brand ambassadors. Namely, cricketers like Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and KL Rahul, and other sports celebrities like Mary Kom, Avani Lekhara and Dutee Chand. Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan is also part of this and their newly added celebrity is singer Harrdy Sandhu.
Is it right for the brand to post photos of a celebrity and not clarify in the caption of the post that it is not a part of their advertisements and also not take the consent of the person they are featuring in their social media?
It was found out later that the story Sharma shared was part of a campaign in collaboration with Puma. It was a gimmick to gather the attention of the fans of the actor and the people who follow the brand.
