Dum Laga Ke Haisha is a romantic comedy-drama starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar. The movie follows Prem (Khurrana) and Sandhya’s (Pednekar) marriage which is on the rocks. There is no love lost between the two, as Prem does not like her and was pressured into marrying her. Sandhya becomes frustrated over time and after a public argument, decides to leave Prem. They both reach court to file their divorce, and the court decides that the two must spend 6 months with each other and try to salvage their relationships. The movie plays on the enemies to lovers trope, while adding the question, what if you were already married to someone you did not like?
3. Break Ke Baad
Break Ke Baad is a romantic comedy film starring Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan. The film follows the relationship between Abhay (Khan) and Aaliya (Padukone). The two have been friends since childhood and begin dating. Aaliya does not want to get married and goes to Australia for acting school. After a paranoid Abhay follows her to Austrailia, they break up. Over the years, they become friends again and romance blooms between the two once again.
4. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan
The romantic comedy starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhumi Pednekar received five nominations at the 63rd Filmfare Awards. The story revolves around Mudit (Khurrnana) and Sugandha’s (Pednekar) relationship and engagement. Mudit attempts to deal with his erectile dysfunction while being pressured by relatives from both sides of the family. It talks about familial expectations and societal expectations. The movie’s fresh plot and the chemistry between the leads was praised.
5. Baireilly Ki Barfi
Baireilly Ki Barfi is a romantic comedy starring Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Rajkummar Rao. The film received highly positive reviews from critics and emerged as a commercial success. The film follows the independent and free spirited Bitti (Sanon). Bitti reads a book and discovers that she bears a lot of similarities with the main character of the book and attempts to find the author. Unknown to her, Chirag (Khurrana) is the author of the book which he published using an alias. In a plot filled with comedy and twists and turns, Chirag exchanges letters with Bitti using his alias and the two fall in love.
