With passion and vigour to unlock the leadership potential of each young individual in India, AIESEC in Delhi IIT launched its flagship event called Youth Speak Forum on April 30, 2023.
Youth Speak Forum is an initiative by AIESEC. This global non-profit youth-run organisation aims to empower young people to become responsible leaders and to create a positive impact in their communities. The forum brings together young people from different backgrounds to share their ideas, thoughts, and perspectives on the pressing global issues that affect them and their communities.
Change begins with Youth
AIESEC in Delhi IIT as the first local chapter of AIESEC in India was established in 1981 in IIT Delhi and has been creating a positive impact on youth through international experiences. Focusing on leadership development to drive this country for the betterment of youth in the future. The event's hosts called all of the AIESECers to the stage to participate in the AIESEC tradition of jiving and invited the audience to do the same to energise and foster a welcoming environment. Mohit Nagpal, the president of AIESEC at the Delhi IIT, gave the event it's formal opening. Hosts then spoke to the audience; we invite world leaders to speak at the Youth Speak Forum about the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals and leadership as a key component of the solution. The main goal is to conduct energising discussions about the Power of Sustainable Innovation and Consumption and how young people can contribute to the solution. The day begins with partner space Headway Abroad which helps students to thrive in the UK, US, Canada, EU, Australia, Ireland and Singapore.
The Executive Board Coordinators of AIESEC in Delhi IIT, Anjali Joshi (Vice President of Outgoing Corporate Sector & Finance & Legal) & Shreya Gupta (Vice President of Business Development & External Relations) along with the Organising Core Committee headed by Arhan Sayyed invited keynote speakers on the stage to shed some light and empower the crowd with their words.
The line-up, which included five speakers and two workshops featuring inspiring individuals from various fields, helped the audience understand what it takes to be leaders. The panel included Anjana OM Kashyap - Journalist, Senior Executive Editor, Aajtak, Shiv Kehra - Indian Author & Activist Author of “You Can Win”, Diksha Arora - Advocate, Interview Coach & Motivator, Sandeep Jain - Founder, GeeksforGeeks and Sanchit Kalra - Ex-IITian Lifestyle Influencer, Founder of Urban Needs
Participants got a chance to interact with keynote speakers, understand speakers’ views on world issues through panel discussion space and got chance to network to learn and build a better community they are living in. AIESEC then talked about their International Exchange opportunities which are panned across more than 108+ countries and how the organisation provides a unique platform for young people to gain valuable skills, knowledge, and experiences that are critical for their personal and professional growth. AIESEC's mission is to empower young people to positively impact society through personal and professional development.
The forum was closed by Mohit Nagpal, who also discusses the crucial role that gatherings like the Youth Speak conference have in creating tomorrow's leaders who will be able to assume responsibility at a young age and change the world. He believes that "charity begins at home, and change begins with you," and that groups like AIESEC provide people the ability to learn from their failures while still having an impact on the world. "The event of Youth Speak Forum is just a beginning," he said, "and the organisation's workings at Delhi IIT hope to continue the same impact on the community with the help of young leaders."
