Indian Physicist Professor Rohini Godbole was awarded The National Order Of Merit By Government Of France today. Here's a look at what makes her an inspiration to leaders across careers.

- Professor Rohini Godbole has been with the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore for over 25 years. She is a professor at the centre for High Energy Physics in the institute.
- Godbole is a particle physicist best known for her work at CERN. Godbole's research on high energy photons could form the basis for the next generation of particle colliders, used to study the fabric and composition of the Universe. She works on aspects of the Standard Model of particle physics, which describes the properties and behaviour of elementary particles of the Universe.
- Godbole has an MSc from IIT-Bombay and a PhD in theoretical particle physics from the State University of New York.
- Godbole hails from Maharashtra. She was born in 1952 in a town near Pune. She has three other sisters, also working in the field of science.
- Godbole started out her career as a visiting fellow at Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai in 1979
- Apart from her work in academics, Prof. Godbole is also a much sought-after communicator of science, often delivering talks to young students, scholars and scientists on everything physics.
- Godbole is the co-author of the book Lilawati's Daughters which celebrates Indian women in science.

- Professor Rohini M Godbole was one of 19 women that received the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 2019
