Who Is Baljeet Kaur? The 27-year-old Baljeet Kaur from Himachal Pradesh in India managed to conquer two mountain peaks in Nepal, which were 8,000 metres tall, within two weeks. She conquered Mount Kanchenjunga, which is 8, 586 metres tall on Thursday morning.

The update on her recent success was given by the director of Peak Promotion Private Limited Pasang Sherpa. He said, "After successfully scaling the mountain peak, she has arrived at Camp III and is now descending towards the base camp." Kanchenjunga is located between the border region of Sikkim in India and Nepal. The mountaineering expeditions on the mountain peak from the Indian side were banned as the people of Sikkim consider the mountain to be a sacred deity.

Earlier, she had climbed Mount Annapurna I, which is 8,091 metres tall on April 28 this year. According to Sherpa, this is her second 8,000 metres plus mountain for this season. He also informed news media that she is now preparing to climb the world's highest peak Mount Everest and Lhotse, which is 8,516 metres.

Last week Priyanka Mohite from Maharashtra became the first Indian woman to have scaled five peaks, which were all above 8,000 metres.

Who Is Baljeet Kaur?

Kaur has become the second mountaineer from the state of Himachal Pradesh to have scaled Kanchenjunga this season. Last week, 27-year-old Amir Negi had summitted the mountain peak.

Kaur along with Gunbala Sharma, who is from Rajasthan, has become the first Indian woman to scale Mount Pumori, which is 7. 161 metres on May 12 last year. She was also part of the 12 member team named Everest Massif Expedition, who had gone to Nepal to scale four peaks that are part of Mount Everest.

Four months after that she climbed Mount Dhaulagiri, which is 8,167 meters and the world's seventh highest mountain.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she also indulges in marathons, yoga, fitness, and dance and also organises expeditions and trekking. She has done her bachelor's degree from Government PG College Solan in 2015. Apart from this, she has volunteered in National Cadet Corps, National Service Scheme and the Bharat Scout and guide.
