Neetu Chopra decided to spread awareness on women's safety and empowerment after reading about Unnao rape incident. Neetu who is from Udaipur is spreading this message on a scooter. She aims to ride from Ramban in Jammu to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu which is approximately 4000 kilometres.

Neetu Chopra's Scooter Ride
Chopra started her journey on December 15, 2019. On her way, Chopra met people and government officials and conveyed her message on women empowerment and right of freedom of girls. During her travel, Neetu interacts with people and also demonstrated self-defence techniques to girls. Neetu aims to start an academy for girls on self-defence. She also aims to join the Indian Army herself.
Neetu did her Graduation from the College of Home Science, MPUAT in Udaipur. She also pursued an MBA in Human resources. She was a part of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) during her graduation. Further, she became Girls Cadet Instructor. Neetu has two sisters who have clinched the status of Bhikkuni (female monastics). At the age of nine, Neetu lost her mother.

Neetu told Times of India “I always wanted to serve the community, so I left the job in 11 months and came back to follow my passion.” She further added “I started an event organising firm in which I handle projects about conservation of nature and women empowerment. I never ask my father anything, but I just keep him informed.”

The theme of her ride is “Ride for revolution.” Neetu chose scooter as a means of travel as it is the most driven vehicle by women in the country. Neetu carries a knife and a Taser for self-defence. A GPS tracker is also attached to her helmet. She told TOI, “When my father asked me what he can do when something happens to me during the journey, I told him to treat me like a martyr.” She also added “Even though my statement seems exaggerated, in reality a woman doing a solo ride on a scooter on the highway is highly unsafe these days! But, we need to break these shackles.”
Chopra collected fascinating stories on this mission. Last Thursday she reached Madurai. She also met many people from different walks of life. The total budget of her trip is between Rs 1.85-2 lakhs. Neetu also told TOI, “From a conservative family to a professional women solo rider, that kind of courage I want in all the girls; the courage to defy the illogical laws of the society that stop them back from becoming what they want.”
Neetu is an inspiration for every Indian woman.
