Here is a list of six Indian female mountaineers who achieved feats in their career:

Tashi Yangjom

Amidst the deadly outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, this young mountaineer defeated all obstacles on her way and scaled the world's highest mountain peak recently. Starting her journey on May 9, she reached her destiny on May 11.

Trained by India's one of the most prominent sporting institutes, the National Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports (NIMAS), Yangjom hails from Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh.

Priyanka Mohite

The 26-year-old mountain climber has had a marvellous career of scaling some of the highest mountain peaks of the world, including Mt Malaku, Mt Lhotse and Mt Everest. Back in 2013, she became the youngest girl from Maharashtra to have scaled Mt. Everest and the third youngest Indian to do so.

When SheThePeople spoke to Mohite, she revealed that her desire is to "give adventure related training and lead expedition with young girls".

Anita Kundu

Kundu scaled Mt Everest from China side back in 2017, becoming the first Indian woman to do so. Her climb was one of the most anticipated climbs as she faced a lot of adverse weather conditions during her venture. The young mountaineer also has a history of scaling the Everest from Nepal side in 2013.

Arunima Sinha

The Indian mountain climber is a sportswoman as well. She became World's first female amputee to scale Mt Everest, Mt Kilimanjaro (Tanzania), Mt Elbrus (Russia), Mt Kosciusko (Australia), Mt Aconcagua (South America), Carstensz Pyramid (Indonesia) and Mt Vinson, just two years after she lost her left leg to an accident.

This extraordinary twin sibling made history by choosing to climb mountains. They kept breaking one after another World's records ever since they started with this adventurous career back in 2013.

For Nungshi, climbing mountains was a "matter of challenge to reach the highest peak" in the country and for Tashi, it was a matter of her "inner spirituality that she found in the mountains".
