After a lifetime of depression, Kaya was determined to end her suffering. The tablets hadn’t taken effect when her panicked mother shook her, shouting: “We must rush! Kapil is in ICU! Car crash!”
Kaya vomited the pills, reflecting on the irony. Even in this, her final act, Kaya's twin and everybody’s favourite, had upstaged her.
Plan B, she reminded herself as she grabbed her handbag to leave.
“Sorry,” said the surgeon flatly, when they arrived. “With multiple-organ failure, he’s unlikely to survive.”
“Swap them with mine and I’ll be fulfilled,” said Kaya distinctly. Then shot herself with her handgun.
