Sania Mirza: Indo-Slovenian pair Sania Mirza and Andreja Klepac advanced into the semifinal round of the Qatar Open on Wednesday.
The duo were defeated the Russian-Canadian pair Anna Blinkova and Gabriela Dabrowski 6-2, 6-0 in about 52 minutes.
The Mirza-Klepac duo completely dominated the match and got 62.8 per cent of their first serves in. They were able to win 63 per cent of those points. The difference in the serves increased in the second serves as Sania Mirza and Andreja Klepac won 62.5 per cent of them. Blinkova and Dabrowski won only 44.4 per cent of their second serves.
Sania and Andreja also won 20 of the 33 first return points in the game. The second return points seemed to work in their favour as the Russian-Canadian pair won only 40 per cent of it. Besides that, the Indo-Slovenian pair also managed to save five of the six break points they encountered.

Mirza and Klepac will have to up their game in order to win against the winner between Bethanie Mattek-Sands-Jessica Pegula and Nicole Melichar-Demi Schuurs.
In the opening match of the Qatar Open, Mirza and Klepac had won against Nadiia Kichenok and Lyudmyla Kichenok of Ukraine.
Twelve months ago, Sania had played at the Doha Open in February last year at a time when the coronavirus pandemic was catching up. Sania Mirza had contracted the virus, but recovered from the disease in January this year.
