Journalist Chitra Tripathi Trends On Twitter: All You Need To Know About The Case

Chitra Tripathi: After Journalist Atul Agarwal's claim of being robbed was refuted by Uttar Pradesh police, his wife and news anchor Chitra Tripathi started to trend on Twitter.

Agarwal alleged that he was robbed at gunpoint in Noida but police have called it a "false incident". The police also stated that Agarwal's allegations of robbery are related to personal reasons.

His stay at an OYO hotel and connections with a female friend was also mentioned, according to reports. After the report was made public, netizens started to talk about Agarwal in connection with his wife and demanded justice for her. Agarwal is alleged of cheating on his wife, Chitra Agarwal. Here's Why Chitra Tripathi was trending on Twitter:

1. The editor-in-chief of the Hindi Khabar news channel, Atul Agarwal alleged that he was robbed of five thousand rupees by assailants near Noida extension on June 19 around 1 am. He claimed that the assailants were armed. He made these allegations through a social media post.

2. Reacting to his post, Noida police took cognisance of the case and started to investigate the matter. They later revealed that no such incident took place the police had a team of five police officers look into the case and check CCTV footage.

3. According to Agarwal's post on Facebook, he had left for home by 1: 15 am but the police records showed that he went to an OYO hotel in sector 121 of Noida and 1:45 am and then left at 11: 45 am the next day.

4. According to the police statement, the female friend of Agarwal told the police that she met him on the evening of the alleged robbery. Agarwal left for home around 10:45 pm after dropping her at her place. She added that at around 1:20 am, Agarwal called to tell that he was roaming on the streets but didn't mention anything about the robbery.

5. Police concluded that Agarwal lied about the robbery due to "personal reasons". After this, many social media users alleged that Agarwal was cheating on his wife, Tripathi. So far, there has been no public statement made by Chitra.
