Who was Sahana? The 21-year-old actor and model were found dead on May 12 evening on the day of her birthday. Later, on May 13, the police had taken her husband Sajjad into custody after the deceased woman's family alleged that she was murdered. She was found in Kozhikode in Kerala.
On the day of her 21st birthday, at around 1 AM, her family, who live in the Kasargod district of Kerala was informed about her death via call. Sahana's mother told the news media, "My daughter would never die by suicide, she was murdered. She used to cry all the time saying they were torturing her. He used to get drunk and create trouble. His parents and sister were also torturing her, then I suggested that they move to a separate house. Even after that, my daughter told me that he was behaving badly with her and wanted money."
Her mother also said that they had given her 25 sovereigns of gold, all of which has been used. "She wanted to meet us on her birthday," she said while alleging that her husband Sajjad would not let her meet her family or invite them to the house.
The accused person's mother has also reportedly confirmed that disputes started in Sajjad and Sahana's marriage just a week after their wedding. Sajjad's mother said, "We had no contact. My phone number was blocked . I saw my son only once or twice after he left home."
"The life here didn’t agree with her, she couldn’t adjust,” Sajjad’s mother added.

Who Was Sahana?
She was a native of Cheruvathur in the Kasargod district. She had acted in various jewellery advertisements. She married Sajjad around one and a half years ago. Sajjad was a previous employee in Qatar but after being with Sahana, he started living in Kozhikode.
The mother stated that after Sahana complained of torture by her in-laws, the couple moved out and shifted to a rented house at Parambil Bazar in Kozhikode city.
ACP K Sudarshan told The News Minute that she had acted in a few Tamil projects and recently received some money. He alleged that the couple had an argument over this. "According to the husband, he found her dead inside the bathroom after that," Sudershan said.
The investigating police officers said that they are not sure whether the death was by suicide and are currently investigating the case.
