Who Was Rachel Oniga? Nigerian Actor Who Passed Away

A Nigerian actor, Rachel Oniga passed away on Friday night according to reports.

Emeka Rising, the Lagos State chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) confirmed the news on the morning of Saturday. He said, "We just got the news early morning today. We have nothing to say than to give glory to God for a life well spent."

He further added, "I got the news this morning, I have been down and surprised."

Certain previous reports related to Oniga's death state COVID-19 to be the reason for her demise. Her family revealed that Oniga passed away due to a heart-related ailment.

They added, "Contrary to diverse reports informing that she died from Covid-19 complications, we write to inform the general public that she died from a heart-related issue: an ailment she battled with for a short period before her demise." She died at the age of 64 years.

Who was Rachel Oniga?

• Rachel Oniga was a veteran actor from Nigeria.
• Oniga was born in Ebute Metta, Lagos State. She later moved to live on in Eku, Delta State in Southern Nigeria.
• Shortly after her divorce Oniga pursued her career in acting in 1993.
• She worked at Ascoline Nigeria Limited which is a Dutch Consultant Company for a brief period of time.
• Later she signed her first film titled Onome and her debut Yoruba movie was Owo Blow.
• As a single mother juggling home and work, and managing her status as one of Nigeria’s top celebrities, Oniga’s determination to prove she “could stand without any man” drove her forward.
