Who was Nyla Anderson: The death of a ten-year-old girl who lost her life attempting a viral TikTok challenge earlier this month has once again set off a wave of concern among parents in the United States. The social media platform, popular for creators to take up stunts and participate in trends, has of late been under fire for the spate of accidents associated with it.

Nyla Anderson from Pennsylvania was doing the online 'Blackout Challenge,' which requires one to dangerously hold their breath until they pass out, on December 12. She was in her room doing the dare and was rushed to hospital when she fell unconscious. She couldn't be saved.

As per reports, an official word on the cause of death is yet to be declared. But Anderson's mother is saying she died as a result of the internet challenge.

"Make sure you check your kids' phones. You never know what you might find on their phones," Anderson's mother was quoted telling the media. She described her daughter as a happy child who used social media, "like most tweens."

In India, a similar case of a teen boy losing his life while making an Instagram reel surfaced earlier this month. As previously reported, the 14-year-old from Indore was shooting a "fake hanging" scene for social media when his foot slipped and the noose around his neck tightened, leading to his death. His friends fled from the scene in fear and his body was later discovered by his family.

Recently, fear swept Louisiana schools with reports emerging of a high school student at Covington High School allegedly attacking a disabled teacher as part of a TikTok challenge. Concerns of another alleged "school shooting challenge" has gripped parents and educators in the US with fear, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reportedly probing the matter.

A few months ago, medical experts issued warnings around a viral "dry scooping" trend that required netizens to consume a spoonful of protein powder dry instead of the recommended guideline for diluting it in water before consumption.
