Who Is Vineeta Agarwala: After Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey stepped down from the post of chief executive officer for the micro-blogging website, he was replaced by IIT-Bombay alumnus Parag Agrawal. The 37-year-old is now the youngest CEO to lead an S&P 500 company (a stock market index tracking the performance of 500 big companies that are listed on the United States stock exchanges.)
Prior to being named as Dorsey's successor, Agrawal was the chief technology officer of Twitter. He holds a degree in Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT-Bombay and joined Twitter in 2011. Before joining Twitter, Agrawal helmed research on large-scale data management in collaboration with AT&T Labs, Microsoft Research and Yahoo! Research.
Agrawal had shared the news of his appointment on Twitter on November 29, writing, "Deep gratitude for @jack and our entire team, and so much excitement for the future. Here’s the note I sent to the company. Thank you all for your trust and support." In the letter that Agrawal shared along with his tweet, he thanked Dorsey for his mentorship. "I am honoured and humbled. And I’m grateful for your continued mentorship and your friendship. I’m grateful for the service that you built, the culture, soul, and purpose you fostered among us and for leading the company through really significant challenges.” Read more about it here.
Here is what we know about Parag Agrawal's wife Vineeta Agarwala:
Agarwala currently works as an adjunct clinical professor at Stanford School of Medicine. She also is a General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz- a platform for all players in the technology ecosystem. Here, she leads investments for the firm’s bio fund across therapeutics, diagnostics, and digital health, with a focus on companies that are leveraging unique datasets to improve drug development and patient care delivery.
Also a board member at BigHat Biosciences, Agarwala holds a BS in biophysics from Stanford University. She completed her MD and PhD degrees from Harvard Medical School/MIT. Agarwal has also acted as a venture investor on Google Ventures life sciences team focused on biotech companies with a data-driven approach.
Vineeta Agarwala also used to work as an early data scientist at Kyruus, which is a management consultant for biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device clients at McKinsey & Co. Despite juggling multiple profiles, she continues her practice as a physician, seeing patients at Stanford as an adjunct clinical professor in the Division of Primary Care and Population Health.
Going by a previous social media post of her husband, Parag and Vineeta got married in 2016. The couple currently lives in San Francisco, California with their son Ansh.
