Who Is Vijaya Gadde? Twitter's Lawyer Faces Criticism From Elon Musk

Who is Vijaya Gadde:  Elon Musk, who just acquired the social media network, has criticised top Indian-American lawyer Vijaya Gadde, who has been at the core of Twitter's critical decisions to suspend Donald Trump's account following Capitol violence and to restrict political ads.

Musk responded to a tweet from a renowned podcast host who branded Gadde as "Twitter's biggest censorship advocate," calling the suspension of the New York Post over a disputed post about US Vice President Joe Biden's son "obviously incredibly inappropriate."  Musk's criticism of Twitter Inc.'s legal team's content decision was met with a barrage of abusive tweets addressed toward Gadde.

Musk had tweeted, "Suspending the Twitter account of a major news organization for publishing a truthful story was obviously incredibly inappropriate."

Vijaya Gadde is well known for her role as the head lawyer at Twitter. As a member of the microblogging platform's executive team, Gadde is in charge of law, policy, and trust. She began working at Twitter in 2011 and has spent more than a decade there.

- Gadde was born to a Telugu family in India and moved to the United States when she was three years old. She is 48 years old, having been born in 1974.

- Her father went to the United States for graduate school and didn't have sufficient funding to send for his wife and daughter until Gadde was three years old.

- Gadde graduated from Cornell University's School of Industrial and Labor Relations with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations and the New York University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 2000.

- Before joining Twitter in 2011, Gadde spent nearly a decade at the Silicon Valley legal firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. She was also a senior director in the legal department of Juniper Networks, a Silicon Valley technology company.

- Vijaya Gadde's husband is Ramsey Homsany, a lawyer and digital executive who has worked for businesses like Dropbox and Google. Homsany is also the co-founder and president of Octant Bio, a biotechnology research firm that attempts to improve medication discovery in the medical field. Reportedly, he used to be an executive at Dropbox, where he worked on the company's public policy, legal, and trust and security teams.

- According to previous tweets on the microblogging platform, she appears to have two children. While Vijaya Gadde is well-known for her work at Twitter, she maintains her personal life and her relationship private.
