Recently, a man was arrested for giving rape and death threats to the television actor Urfi Javed. The accused, Naveen Giri allegedly used WhatsApp to send threatening messages to the social media influencer.

Goregaon Police took Giri under its custody under an FIR registered under Section 354(A) (sexual harassment), Section 354(D) (stalking), Section 509, Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code as well as the IT Act.

Several reports surfaced online on December 21 about Urfi landing in legal trouble for wearing a revealing outfit while shooting a video in Dubai. Former Bigg Boss OTT contestant Urfi has quashed all those rumours about being detained by the Dubai police.

As reported by Zoom Entertainment, the 24-year-old reality star said, “The police had arrived to stop the shoot because of some issues at the location."

Who Is Urfi Javed?

Urfi Javed is a television actor who rose to popularity for her role, of Avni in Bade Bhaiyya Ki Dulhania. She was recently seen in the popular OTT Bigg Boss reality show. She has also acted in several other daily soaps including Star Plus shows Chandra Nandini and Meri Durga, SAB TV's Saat Phero Ki Hera Pherie, Colors TV's Bepannaah, Star Bharat's Jiji Maa, and many others.

Recently, amid the pandemic in 2020, she was cast in popular shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as Shivani Bhatia and Kasautii Zindagii Ki as Tanisha Chakraborty. ALT Balaji's Puncch Beat 2 marks her digital debut. She has also appeared in a Befikra music video with Kunwar. Talking about how surreal it felt to be a part of the Bigg Boss, and her determination to win Urfi Javed has said, "Even if a knife goes through me, I don’t give up. I think that’s my strength. If there’s a weakness that I have, it’s that I lack patience.”

Urfi Javed hails from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She is more often confused to be related to Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi. When the controversy got blown out of proportion both parties came forward denying any relationship. Urfi Javed said, “People have cooked up stories just because my entire name is Urfi Javed. But he was never associated with me in any way. All this is just done to troll him and put his name down by associating my outfit controversy with him."

In 2017, Urfi Javed was reportedly in a relationship with her co-actor Paras Kalnawat, but the duo separated in 2018. She has since marked her presence on social media with 2.7m followers. She is seen regularly posting pictures of her outfits and engaging with fans on her Instagram. Urfi Javed holds a degree in Mass Communication from Amity University, Lucknow. Revealing more about her struggles, she said that during her school days, her pictures ended up on an unsafe site, and she was shunned and had support from nobody. She recalls it as the darkest years of her life.

The actor was also seen in a viral video in which she appears to be arguing with some security guards. As per the video, Javed had visited an office for some professional commitment and was getting clicked by the paparazzi. The security guards came and stopped her from getting clicked in front of the building. That is when Javed said that she is going back and cancelling her appointment.

Recently she slammed the trolls that drag her for her every outfit choice saying, “If you read articles about me, they’re like ‘Urfi Javed ne ashleelta ki hadde paar ki, nangi utar aayi, goes braless.’ Since when did we start talking about a women’s undergarment? Why are you writing articles about my undergarments bro? So don’t you think the media is responsible in a way for how people talk about me? Why are you slut shaming a girl? I blamed the media for portraying me as a slut."
