Shanmukhapriya, the latest sensation of the reality singing show Indian Idol 12 impressed Bollywood composer Anu Malik on the show.

Malik had asked her to sing for one of his compositions which made Shanmukhapriya speechless. "You are a magnificent performer. I feel so lucky that I got the opportunity to hear you live. I would like to offer you a song in the coming future. A talent like yours should reach more heights", said Malik.
Shanmukhapriya's performances have consistently impressed judges Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani and Himesh Reshammiya. She has now emerged as one of the strongest contestants in the show.
Here are a few things to know about the talented Shanmukhapriya:
- Shanmukhapriya is an Indian Idol 12 contestant.
- She was born on 19 February 2003 into a family of musicians in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
- Her musical talent was first recognised by her father, Srinivas Kumar who noticed her humming to the tune of an alarm clock music. He then immediately took out the Veena, and gave her the notes and rhythm. “To my surprise, that little child could catch the notes so perfectly and melodiously! It was then that we decided to train her in Carnatic classical vocal,” he said.
- Her mother Ratnamala is a music teacher, while her father plays the violin and veena.
- She started singing at the age of 4, and participated in many reality shows such as TV’s Voice India Kids, Paaduta Teeyaga, Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs, etc.
- She is trained in carnatic music, Hindustani classical music, opera, yodelling, etc. She is best known for her yodelling style of singing.
- Shanmukhapriya had sang the title song in a Telugu film called Tejam in 2010.
- This young singing sensation wowed the Indian Idol 12 judges by singing Main Hoon Jhoom Jhoom Jhumroo. She had also won the golden mic in the first round of the singing competition.
- She won the title of Voice of India Kids and participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs.
