Who Is Rhona Gemmell? Ex-Wife Of Beloved Late Actor Robbie Coltrane

Actor Robbie Coltrane, best known for his role as the gentle giant Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter movie franchise passed away on October 14, at the age of 72.

Coltrane’s passing was announced by his agent Belinda Wright, who said in a statement, “As well as being a wonderful actor, he was forensically intelligent, brilliantly witty and after 40 years of being proud to be called his agent, I shall miss him.”

The Scottish actor and comedian was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by the late Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama in 2006. Coltrane made his final on0screen appearance in the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts television special.

The late actor is survived by his ex-wife Rhona Gemmell, and their two children Spencer and Alice.

Who Is Rhona Gemmell?

• Rhona Gemmell and Robbie Coltrane met in December 1988, when she was a college student. She later took on a career as a sculptor, as well as a pilates teacher.
• Gemmell is based in London and has held positions in pilates-focused health studios such as Body Control Pilates and Otago Steet Pilates.
• The sculptor and pilates instructor has been awarded certifications in Body Control Master Matwork and Comprehensive Studio.
• The couple dated for years and had two children together before they got married. They welcomed their first child together, a son named Spencer in 1992.
• Gemmell then gave birth to their second child, a daughter named Alice in 1998.
• On December 11, 1999, the parents tied the knot after being in a relationship for several years.
• The family moved to a farmhouse near Lach Lomond, Scotland.
• By 2003, the couple separated and later got divorced.
• At the time of the split, Coltrane’s publicist told Daily Mail that the duo and separated and said, “It is amicable and there is no one else involved. They are apart and it’s sad. Robbie’s work takes him away an awful lot and maybe the age difference was playing a part too.”
