Who Is Priya Runchal: Actor John Abraham shared on January 3 that he and his wife Priya Runchal have both tested positive for COVID-19. Abraham further revealed in his post that both of them are experiencing mild symptoms.
The Madras Cafe actor shared an Instagram story on Monday, reading, "I came in contact 3 days ago with someone who I later learned had COVID. Priya & I have tested positive for COVID. We have been Quarantined at home so haven't been in contact with anyone else. We are both vaccinated and experiencing mild symptoms, Pleas stay well and healthy. Masks up."
As the number of coronavirus cases in the country spikes up again, state governments have reimposed the curbs and partial lockdown like situations in various parts of the country. The spike comes after numerous cases of Omicron - a new coronavirus variant that can escape immunity from vaccination and precious infections.

On Monday, India reported 33,750 new coronavirus cases and 123 deaths. The number of recoveries is 10, 846 which brings India's current caseload tally to 1,45,582. While the Omicron variant case counts in India has climbed to 1,700, out of which 639 have recovered.
Before Abraham and his wife, many Bollywood celebrities tested positive for COVID-19 in the last month of 2021. While Kareena Kapoor Khan and Amrita Arora tested positive after attending a party by director-producer and anchor Karan Johar in mid-December, Arjun Kapoor test positive last week, alongside his sister Anshula and cousin Rhea Kapoor.
Who is Priya Runchal?
Priya Runchal is an exceptional Bollywood wife, who not only stays away from the limelight, but the industry itself, fully focused on her career.
A financial analyst and investment banker, she got married To Abraham in the year 2014. According to her husband, Runchal is a private person, which explains her decision to stay away from the limelight.
Runchal hails from McLeodganj and met Abraham in 2010. She has worked at Goldman Sachs and the World Bank. She also holds a scholarship from the London Business School. After marrying Abraham, Runchal eventually moved to Mumbai.
In a 2016 interview, Abraham said that his wife handles everything, from his management to finances. "She's a good teammate, my partner in everything, but doesn't like to go to too many functions. Anyone else in her place would love to come out in a red gown and walk the red carpet, she'd rather concentrate on credible causes."
Further speaking on his wife's strong sense of self, Abraham added that she doesn’t want to be called an actor’s wife and whould rather make her own space.
