Bhojpuri singer Neha Singh Rathore has been all over social media with her new song UP Mein Ka Ba ( what's there in UP) which criticises the Yogi government for its poor administration in Uttar Pradesh. The singer released her song on YouTube hours after the BJP MP Ravi Kishan released his song UP Mein Sab Ba (There's everything in UP) to pursue voters ahead of UP Assembly Polls.
Bhojpuri singer and internet sensation Neha Singh Rathore took a dig at BJP MP Ravi Kishan with her new song UP Mein Ka Ba after the release of his election song UP Mein Sab Ba in which he appreciates the achievements of the Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh. Rathore’s one-minute track criticises the government over issues like COVID-19 deaths, Hathras rape and murder case, the alleged murder of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri and other such issues.
Rathore has referred to PM Modi’s “chowkidar” image to question the lack of accountability in UP administration in the song.
Who is Neha Singh Rathore?
The singer rose to fame after her rap song Bihar Mein Ka Ba went viral on social media in 2020 after PM Narendra Modi announced country-wide lockdown. The song was inspired by Bambai Mein Ka Ba which featured actor Manoj Bajpayee.
Born and brought up in Bihar, she hails from Kaimur district. Her father, Ramesh Singh is an architect in a private company and her mother Champa Devi is also a singer. Neha Singh Rathore mentions on her social media handles that she is, "Fighting to restore the honour of Bhojpuri that has been ripped off by the sleazy movie songs."
Inspired by her singer mother, Rathore expresses her takes on socio-political issues and social evils like dowry and alcoholism through her songs. Her songs also refer to the issues faced by students, migrants, women and marginalised sections of the society. The singer has addressed the election propaganda with her songs including Uttar Pradesh Mein Chunaab Aaile Paas and Jumlebaaz Rajau.
She had amassed a following of 2.86 Lakh on YouTube, 31.4K on Instagram and 3.67 Lakh on her Facebook account. The Bhojpuri artist is a B.Sc graduate from Kanpur University.
