Who is Mariya Didi? Maldives Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi is all set to visit India. She will be the first Foreign Defence Minister to review the Passing out Parade at the Indian Naval Academy.

The Minister of Defence of the Republic of Maldives, Mariya Didi is a former member of People's Majlis and a leading human rights activist. She is in India on a six-day official visit to Kochi and Kannur. The delegation will return to Maldives on 28th November. Here is what we know about Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi.
- Didi is the chief guest at the passing-out parade of officer cadets at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kannur. The ceremony is scheduled on November 27. A total of 233 officers ,including international trainees, will be passing out from INA this year.
- Sworn in as the Minister of Defence in November 2018, Didi is the first female in the history of the country to be appointed Minister of Defence.
- She pursued a bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) and subsequently a master's degree in Law (LLB) (Hons) from the University of Aberystwyth, Wales, UK.
- Didi is the first female lawyer of the Maldives and a Member of Parliament for four consecutive terms.
- She was also the chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the countries largest political party.
- She is married to Mohamed Amir and they have a son and a daughter.
- Earlier during a Defence Conclave Didi said, "Today, the relationship between the Maldives and India is stronger than ever. It's not anchored by our shared values, history and perspectives alone. India is and has been our first and best responder in all times of need."
- During her visit she will meet the personnels of Maldives National Defence Force who are undergoing training here.
