Who Is Indira Tiwari: The actor was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali directional Gangubai Kathiawadi. She played the role of Kamli, the main character of Gangubai's best friend in the film.
In a recent post on Instagram, Tiwari talked about how films with female-led narratives and how Alia Bhatt not only portrayed her role with perfection but also got good results at the box office. Tiwari wrote, "It is a win for all of us. You set the cash registers on fire and the equality that is women’s right will come about faster. This is how the needle will truly begin to rapidly move along with all of the soft changes that are in play."
After listing out the recently released and announced films led by women, Tiwari praised her character of Kamli in Gangubai Kathiawadi. Talking about herself in third person, she wrote, "She plays “Gangu Ki Jigri” Kamli in the film. She is riveting. I hope she gets a lot more work and recognition."
In the film starring Alia Bhatt, Indira Tiwari's character plays the character of a friend to Gangubai. When the protagonist is left at a brothel by her lover, Kamli listens to her sorrows. She makes her familarise with the workings of the brothel and what it takes to be a prostitute. The two characters then form an inseparable bond in the film. Tiwari has been praised by many for her portrayal of Kamli in the film.

Who is Indira Tiwari?
- Tiwari went to the National School of Drama in Delhi and first starred in Amitabh Bachchan's film Aarakshan in 2011. She played the background role of a student.
- She rose to fame with her role of Oja Mani in Serious Men. Oja was the wife of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's character Ayyan Mani. In many scenes, Tiwari shined on the screen and did not just come off as an actor supporting the male lead. The film had been nominated in the best actor category of Emmy Awards.
- Indira Tiwari was also seen in a film titled Nazarband which was directed by Suman Mukhopadhyay. Tiwari played the role of a Bihari migrant worker. The film premiered in the Busan Film Festival and won her applause of her character portrayal.
- As per reports, Tiwari prepared for the role in an intense way. She did not even wash her hair for four months to appear as an authentic migrant worker.
