Edwina Sharma, played by Charithra Chandran gives a fresh look into complex sister relationships, along with her older sister Kate Sharma, and a triangle love story arc with Anthony Bridgerton played by Jonathan Bailey. Hailing from an Indian family, this British-Indian actor upholds the traditions with grace, throughout the season. She really demands her own and isn't seen as a mere supporting character in the show.
Revealing more about the character Edwina, and how she initially found it hard to connect, Chandran stated that is hard to play a character who is easily saccharine. The only she could put past that sweetness by being committed to it.

According to Charithra, it is important to have apt representation of Brown families, since famous tv shows lack representation and she stated -“When I put on the dress with the empire waistline, I was teary-eyed I never expected this because I’d never seen a brown person in a dress like that on a show like this."
She added, "It would be absurd to say that there were South Asian nobility in England in 1814. But how wonderful is it that there are in Bridgerton?”
Edwina Sharma is a character full of life according to the actor, Charithra Chandran. She is younger to Kate Sharma and shares a unique relationship with her until they both fall in love with Anthony Bridgerton. Edwina Sharma's character is a take on the evolution of a young girl into becoming her own person. Charithra revealed that as she went on to play the character she fell in love with her evolution.
Edwina Sharma marks actor Charithra Chandran's second venture post-Alex Rider Season 2. Along with a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, politics, and economics, Chandran is a trained theatre artist and a member of the National Youth Theatre. Chandran who auditioned for the role of Kate Sharma initially was offered Edwina's character. On the fence about it at first, she only took up the role as she thought that it was a very important story about a woman's evolution that had to be told, Chandran revealed.
Originally Sheffields in the book written by Julia Quinn, the Sharma women were re-written as Indian for the Bridgerton series, with Simone Ashley, Shelley Conn, and Charithra Chandran, playing the women who bring Indian traditions and customs to Regency-era London.
Charithra Chandran also revealed that in order to be able to connect with her character Edwina on the show, she made a playlist to mark the evolution of her character. Chandran said that Edwina makes it a choice to see the best in others. "Wouldn’t the world be a better place if everyone could be a bit more like Edwina," she asked.
