Kannada television actor Chethana Raj has passed away. She died at a private hospital in Bengaluru, Karnataka where she had gone for 'fat-free plastic surgery'.
The death was a result of fluids that began to accumulate in her lungs. A lot of attempts were made to save her but she died. Her parents have accused the doctors of negligence and have lodged a complaint.
The latest reports, on Chetana Raj's death controversy, have revealed that Chetana's parents have filed a case against the hospital. Dr. Sandeep V, ICU Intensivist at Kaade Hospital has also filed an FIR at the police station, claiming that Dr. Melvin from the previous hospital already knew that Chetana Raj had passed away when he brought her to Kaade. He revealed that even though there was no pulse, the doctors at Kaade, tried CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) for 45 minutes to revive her. The complaint filed, states "We strongly object to this kind of behavior by these doctors and if necessary we may decide to file a report against them. This report is sent to you to bring to your notice that this incident does not appear normal."
Who Is Chethana Raj ?
She was 21-years-old.
Chethana Raj was a Kannada actress known for her roles in daily soaps such as Geetha and Doresani.
On May 16, she went to Shetty's Cosmetic Centre in Rajajinagar in Bengaluru, Karnataka to get 'fat-free' plastic surgery which didn't go as planned.
She hadn't even informed her parents about the surgery. She visited the hospital with her friends.

Speaking to IndiaToday.in, Chethana's uncle Rajappa said, "She is my younger brother’s daughter and she was acting in Kannada TV serials. Somebody had told her to reduce weight as she appeared fat. So, she went to Shetty hospital to remove the excess fat. The hospital is not equipped with an ICU and the surgery was done. After the surgery, water accumulated in her lungs. Later, they shifted her to another hospital nearby where she was declared 'brought dead'."
Her parents have alleged that her death took place because of the doctor’s negligence. As per the news media reports the actor’s body is still at the hospital.
A lot of people have taken to Twitter to express their views on the tragedy. "God has given you a wonderful body. Just to be glamorous why change it and kill your self never mess with nature #chethanaraj", wrote one.
"The body positivity movement in India needs to go beyond Instagram Reels, fashion magazines editorial, and brand promotion and become relatable and mainstream. A 21 year old woman should never have to undergo “fat-free” surgery, no matter what size and weight she is", wrote another.
