Anjum Moudgil Wins Bronze Medal At Shooting World Cup At Changwon

Anjum Moudgil of India took home the bronze medal in the women's 50m rifle three positions competition on Sunday at the ISSF Shooting World Cup in Changwon, South Korea.

Anjum finished third after German Anna Janssen (407.7) and Italian Barbara Gambaro (403.4), who took home the gold and silver medals, respectively, with a final round score of 402.9. Read to know more about Anjum Moudgil.

Who Is Anjum Moudgil?

Silver medalist Anjum Moudgil, from the world championships qualified for the finals on Saturday after standing sixth in the ranking round. The 28-year-old shooter has now won two individual World Cup medals in a row. She took home silver in the same competition at the Baku World Cup held last month.

Anjum Moudgil, a former world championship silver medalist, placed sixth in the qualifying rounds on Saturday to earn a spot in the ranking round of the women's 3P. She started the ranking round on Sunday a bit disappointingly and after the first ten shots in the kneeling position, she was seventh out of eight shooters.

After the second prone series, Anjum Moudgil fell even more, to sixth place, but she shot well in the standing-up final, progressively moving up the ladder.

When the fifth and sixth-place shooters were eliminated following the fifteenth-standing position shot, Anjum was just 0.2 points ahead of Rebecca Koeck of Austria in fourth place, but far behind Barbara Gambaro of Italy in second place by 1.5 points.

As a result, Anjum Moudgil had to accept third place despite defeating the Italian by a full point in the fourth and final five-shot standing position series. She finished with a 402.9, while the Italian received a 403.4. German Anna Janssen easily defeated the competition to win gold with a score of 407.7.

India maintained its position at the top of the medal standings with a total of 11 medals after winning one bronze and one silver each (four gold, five silver and two bronze).
