Anita Bose Pfaff, daughter of freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose praised Centre’s decision to install his statue at India Gate, said it’s a “nice gesture”. PM Modi declared that the statue will be made of granite and a hologram statue will be inaugurated in its place on January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji.
The daughter of Subhash Chandra Bose, Anita Bose Pfaff commended the Centre’s decision to install the freedom fighter’s statue at India Gate. Pfaff told PTI that the news came as a shock to her but she is happy that the Centre is considering putting her father’s statute at such a prominent place.
“I am very happy about the decision. It is a very good location. I am certainly glad that his statue would be put up at such a prominent place. What surprises me is it came all of a sudden now.” Pffaf told PTI.
Commemorating the freedom fighter ahead of his 125th birth anniversary, PM Narendra Modi announced the installation of Subhash Chandra Bose’s statue at India Gate. The statue will be made out of granite. A hologram statue will stand in its place till it is completed. PM Modi will inaugurate the hologram statue on January 23 to celebrate 125th birth anniversary of Subhash Chandra Bose.
Who is Anita Bose Pfaff?
Anita Bose Pfaff is the only child of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. She was born and brought up in Austria by her mother and maternal grand-parents. Pfaff is a well-known German economist who worked as a Professor in Economics at University of Augsberg. She is also an active member of Social Democratic Party of Germany.
Anita Bose Pfaff was not given her father’s surname and grew up as Anita Schenkl. She has also written a biography on her father titled ‘Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and Germany.’ She married Martin Pfaff who used to be a member of the German Parliament.
