Who Is Ananya Kamboj?

The teenager has been selected to represent India as a Young Journalist at Gazprom International Children’s Social Programme Football for Friendship (F4F) for the last five consecutive years.

On making it into the Guinness record organisation, she said, "Being part of three Guinness World Record events, I feel proud, honoured, and happy to have achieved something that is simply the result of my passion for football and something that makes me wholesome."

Ananya Kamboj: 16-Year-Old Who Advocates For Gender Equality

  • Taking to her Instagram account, Kamboj shared a video under a challenge that seemingly involved narrating Kamboj's purpose in using her platform, under the hashtag #TakeTheBall. In the video, she revealed that she believes in sustainable development goals and advocates for gender equality.
  • "Each one of us can make a contribution," she said, "by empowering our daughters, sisters and other girls."
  • Back in the year 2018, she released her own book My Journey from Mohali to St. Petersburg in an event in Moscow. For the same, she was also awarded the best young journalist honour for her effort in spreading the values of the program.
  • Sports being a neglected subject in many Indian schools and prioritising academics over overall development, Kamboj said, "The problem is that the neglect of teaching sports in schools is hurting our youth and causing problems in society."

"If a person has never learned any sport, how are they able to discern the difference between victory and defeat? That is the essence of sports education," added Ananya.

  • The following year, she attended the International Children’s Games (ICG), an International Olympic Committee-sanctioned event to speak on friendship, peace and youth empowerment during the opening of the ceremony in Russia on an official invitation.
  • Apart from that, She has also been a regular participant in the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum and various other United Nations initiatives.
