Watch Mimi online OTT: A Hindi film based on the subject of surrogacy, Mimi, was released on OTT on July 26. The film features actor Kriti Sanon as a dancer who dreams of making it big in Bollywood. Short on cash, Mimi agrees to become a surrogate for an American couple, who are willing to pay her a large amount that will help her realise her ambition. However, Mimi's journey of surrogacy takes an unexpected turn, putting her and her near ones in a tough spot.
The release of this Laxman Utekar directorial has been full of hiccups. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its resultant restrictions on cinemas, the film's makers had to opt for an OTT release, scheduled for July 30. However, just days before its release the film suffered a major piracy attack as its print was released online. The OTT platforms backing Mimi and its makers eventually made the call to release the film four days ahead of its schedule, on July 26.

What is the film about?
Mimi revolves around the subject of surrogacy and what happens when things don't work out between surrogates and couples seeking their services. The film is an adaptation of National Award Winning Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy! which came out in 2010. The original film featured actor Urmilla Kothare in lead and was directed by Samruddhi Porey.
In the film, Sanon's character Mimi ends up pregnant with the child of an American couple who backout of the arrangement later. While she is asked to abort it, Mimi chooses to bring the child into the world, even if that means lying to her parents about how the child was conceived and who the child's father is.
